Environmental and Social Governance (ESG)

Costa Rica Tourism Bonds is committed to working with and developing tourism projects with strong ESG directives or is part of the Costa Rican Certificate of Sustainable Tourism (CST) program. In fact, the very first step of our selection process includes a thorough investigation into the ESG practices of the prospective project.

The concepts of sustainability, respect for our environment, and overall decency are nothing new. Still, their increasing popularity is a phenomenon that has recently become a favored requirement in the world of investing. 

What sets Costa Rica apart is their genuine commitment to ESG. While many government tourism boards worldwide may be simply going through the motions to meet minimum requirements, the Costa Rican tourism industry takes ESG very seriously.

The Certification of Sustainable Tourism (CST) is a Costa Rican program intended to balance three basic factors within the tourism industry. These factors include the company's interaction with natural and cultural resources, the improvement of quality of life within local communities, and economic contribution to other national development programs. ​
